Dear Wonderful and
Amazing Students,
Many of you have or will
take the Washington state assessments this spring and there are a few important
things I want you to know…
Although these tests will
tell us something, they will not tell us everything.
They do not measure how
special you are, how hard you’ve worked this year, nor your amazing talents.
They do not measure
kindness, personality, nor character.
They do not measure AWESOMENESS,
a test that you have already passed with flying colors!
Your 5th grade
test scores will not be on your resume or job application, and they will certainly
not get you into college.
The information gathered
will only be seen by you, your teachers and your families. I will use my
class scores to see where I can focus more attention next year. Your Learning
Coach will consider your scores, in addition to what they see EVERY DAY. We all
know state assessments do not always measure how smart you are. After all, there
are many different kinds of “smart.”
When you go to your
testing site I want you to have confidence because I have confidence in YOU. I am
already proud of you. I know you have grown personally and academically this
year - way more than could ever be measured on a test.
On testing day, be
self-assured, do your best, take your time, and remember to BREATHE…
In other words...
YOU'VE GOT THIS!
