Can you type a paragraph in 20 minutes or less? Yep! Just
like anything in life, writing takes practice. Each time you write, you become
a stronger and more confident writer!
In February, we practiced writing a complete paragraph. 🍔
Now we will use that same strategy to answer questions using information from
one or more sources.
This week, we learned about making a claim and proving
it with evidence. Always HULK UP your answer, by citing the source: book,
passage, video, graphic feature, or text. It's wise to add information from the
source because it proves your claim. You can even copy and paste words directly
from the text, as long as you put them in "quotation marks" and
always tell the reader where the information came from!
FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE can be found in literature and poetry.
Figurative language can give words specific meaning that may be different than the literal definition.
Adding figurative language to your writing is a piece of cake. You are experts at finding metaphors, similes alliteration, personification, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia!
Now, we are going to learn about IDIOMS.
