Keep writing this summer!
Remember events, get your creative juices flowing, and write for fun by keeping a journal!
Journaling is cool because you can write about whatever you want, spelling doesn't count, and you can even add doodles! Writing in a journal can help you remember things, get to know yourself better, solve problems and become a fluent writer.
People have been journaling for hundreds of years. Some journals even date back to the 10th Century! As we learned in Book Club, Lewis & Clark wrote about their expedition in a journal that you can read today (see image below). We can learn a lot about our ancestry and history by reading journals of the past. If you keep a journal of your adventures and your thoughts each day, I'm sure you'll enjoy reading it when you are older. You can even share it with your future children and grandchildren!
In fact Oscar Wilde, 19th century playwright, said: “I never travel without my
diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the
train.”
Happy writing!
