Weekly Response: Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell is one of my favorite artists. Every painting tells a story. I especially like the way he captures childhood memories. I'm sure all of you can relate to his paintings. I know I do.

For this week's response, look at the painting and answer the questions below. For a better view, you can click on the painting and enlarge it.

     1) What is happening in this painting by Norman Rockwell?
     2) What season is represented in the image? How do you know?
     3) What should the title of this painting be?

I will publish all comments on Thursday, so you can see what others have written (without spoiling your own creativity). For a chance to win a lollipop, please respond before Saturday, October 12th!

  1. They're raking leaves.
    It represents fall.
And the title should be "The Fun of Fall"

  4. 1. A boy and his neighbor are raking up leaves.
    2. The season is fall. I know this because the leaves in that pile are brown and other fall colors.
    3. This painting should be called A Beautiful Fall Morning.

  5. In the painting the boy and the man are raking leaves while the dog plays in them. It is fall because they are raking up the leaves. A good title would be " Fall Memories".

  8. 1. What is happening is a little boy is burning the leaves, the dog is looking for something to chew on under the pile of leaves, and the older man is gazing into the sky. 2. The season is Fall because it has colorful leaves that fall off the trees and the little boy and older man raked it. 3. Raking Fall
