Let's Write Expressions!

In math last week, we learned about the Order of Operations.

Here's a refresher course...

Now that we know how to solve algebraic equations, we are going to learn how to write them! First up, let's talk about three important vocabulary words we'll need to know: mathematical symbols, expression and equation.

Let's learn how to write and interpret numeric expressions, shall we? Since they are expressions, we will not actually solve them.

Here is a video that explains what we learned in class:

I used the Grip and Rip technique to add notebook pages this week. I glued them in sideways and they look like this (image below). Groovy! You can click on the image to enlarge it. Please make sure your notebook is up to date by checking your k-mails and looking at past math posts.

If you were not able to complete the Quick Check in class, please send me the answers by Friday!

One more thing.

In class today, we were wondering how to type a division symbol. Here's how!

Windows/PC:
Hold down the ALT key and type 0247 on the keyboard.
ALT + 0247

Mac
Hold down the Option key and press / (backslash)
Option + /

Thanks!
